WannaCry is a ransomware variant that has targeted Windows operating systems since Friday, May 12th. This type of ransomware will make all user files inaccessible. Microsoft has since patched the vulnerability, however, your system may still be at risk, depending on your update settings. Any user running any Windows operating system older than Windows 10 (Windows 10 is not susceptible to the attack, as of today), is highly recommended to bring their system up to date, as soon as possible. This type of ransomware is not reversible, and your files will be lost if you become a victim. If you need assistance updating your system, please, feel free to call us.
